Charles F. Evans Co.: metal roof earns top grades on school job

Article Abstract:

The installation of more than 20,000 sq ft of titanium zinc material on the roof of Sage Hall in Cornell University won top honors for Charles F Evans Co in the Reroofing Institutional category of RSI's Metal Roofing Awards for 2000. Evans took 10 months to complete the project, complicated by zinc's tendency to break in cold weather. All metalforming work were done indoors under warm conditions while a large portion of the ornamental details were site developed and fabricated.

Burns & Scalo: school re-grades roof to sloped metal system

Article Abstract:

The conversion of New England Elementary School's old flat roof into a new standing seam roofing won for Burns & Scalo Roofing second-place honors in the reroofing category of RSI's Metal Roofing Awards for 2000. The roofing contractor installed more than 30,000 sq ft of new roofing from Steelox Roofing Systems onto the school building's 20-year-old post and purlin system. Burns and Scalo took four months to finish the project, using a four-man crew.
