Network 'must hawk wares.'

Article Abstract:

NBC has taken a number of significant moves, which include marketing of more products via DRTV campaigns, buying a minority stake in an Internet publisher, and launching a plan to license its "Must See TV" slogan on different products. The efforts are part of the company's strategy to boost its presence in the transactional programming and merchandising market. NBC's purchase of a minority stake in CNet Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based company that provides online news and entertainment service, will give NBC a business that focuses on Web programming.
