OMC boat dealers find stability

Article Abstract:

Genmar Holdings' purchase of bankrupt Outboard Marine Corp (OMC) is expected to bring back stability to the boatbuilding industry. Executives at some of the reopened OMC companies say the mood at their plants are excellent. With the acquisition, Genmar will own 18 brands of fiberglass and aluminum boats made in 14 manufacturing plants in the US and Canada. These brands include Aquasport, Carver, Crestliner, Glastron, Hatteras, Larson and Logic.

Transamerica likely to lose its financial services arm

Article Abstract:

Transamerica Corp would most likely divest its commercial and leasing business, operated by its financial services subsidiary, Transamerica Finance Corp (TFC). The move is suggested by parent company, Aegon NV, after completing a strategic review of the businesses comprising Transamerica. Aegon has classified TFC a non-core business for it will not contribute in strengthening the company's position in the insurance market.

$30M deal gives Olympic 9 outlets in the Midwest

Article Abstract:

Olympic Boat Centers Group has acquired Link Recreational Inc for $30 million in cash and assumed debt in Mar 1999. The acquistion of Link Recreational makes Bellevue, WA-based Olympic the nation's largest privately held boat retailer. Link Recreational, which operates nine dealerships in Minnesota and Wisconsin and is the world's largest-volume Mercury engine dealer, will be known as OBC Midwest Inc.
