Open-door policy

Article Abstract:

The UK government is encouraging the construction industry to make full use of information technology to help distribute project information. Construction industry software house Visual technology has produced a software package called Focus, which will allow all those involved in a building project to have access to common information, such as architect drawings and sub-contractors. Internet links have been built into the programme to allow the fast transfer of information using Microsoft Explorer software. The initial cost of setting up a common database using Focus is about 20,000 pounds sterling.
