Article Abstract:

Eight houses in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, built by Bryant Homes and Admiral Homes developed serious damage to the foundations even though the houses had been inspected and carried NHBC warranties. Admiral Homes took the usual step of buying back at least one damaged house. Experts suggest that the foundations of the houses were not built to specifications laid down in the Building Regulations. Is is feared that the repurchased houses will not be scrutinized by independent specialists. Around 17,500 house owners claim against the NHBC warranty every year.
