Article Abstract:

Television producer, Phil Redmond trained as a quantity surveyor and is keen to make popular television programmes about the construction industry. Redmond created the award winning series 'Grange Hill' and the soap opera 'Brookside.' He believes the construction industry suffers from the stereotypical views held by most people and, in conjunction with the Natioanl Contractors Group, is keen to use televison to improve the industry's image. Redmond worked as a quantity surveyor before his television career started and values the discipline the training gave him.

Article Abstract:

Nick Evans was chairman of the executive management board and head of the London, England office of architect, Company of Designers when it went into receivership in Jan 1991. He used his savings to but the London office from the receivers and has re-employed ten of the original 20 staff. Evans managed to retain the six projects the practice was working on when the receivers came in and has won other contracts since. He found buying the company simple and is optimistic for the future.
