Article Abstract:

The French construction firm SAE-Fougerolle acquired a 75% stake in the UK group Wiltshier Design and Management (WDM), which was part of the Wiltshier Group in Jun 1992. It has been renamed Relais Construction and its chief executive is Mike Ellis. Wiltshier Group retains 15% equity in Relais. WDM was set up by Ellis in 1987 and by the end of 1988 it had a turnover of 18 million pounds sterling. SAE was set up in 1924 working on hydro-electrical projects and is one of the top 6 European construction companies. Relais now has the resources to undertake complex projects.

Tillyard joins the opposition

Article Abstract:

Bovis International acquired the German and Swiss-based project management and cost consultants Tillyard in Oct 1992. Boris Feigel who set up the 2 operations in 1969 initiated the sale. Both companies benefit through the acquisition. Tillyard is now large to compete with other German and Swiss competitors and has access to new and specialist information. Bovis' German and Swiss interests have been consolidated.

Article Abstract:

Joint ownership may be the solution to problems which exist between main contractors and their subcontractors, according to Mike Ellis, managing director of Ellis Construction. Mike wants to buy stakes in trade contractors, and is currently in discussions with three or four subcontractors. He would not be against the idea of subcontractors acquiring a stake in Ellis Construction.
