Quality on a shoestring

Article Abstract:

The UK multidisciplinary design consultancy Aukett has completed a commission in the Chipshol Park business park in Amsterdam, Holland for the Dutch developer Pieter Poot. The park is a 10, 000 metre squared automation centre for the Dutch national airline KLM costing 350 million pounds sterling. Poot aims to make the park Europe's top business park. Aukett's brief was a develop and construct contract with emphasis on low costs. All drawings were done in London. Aukett has received 3 more commissions for buildings within the park and 4 other projects within Holland.

From factory to Hackney

Article Abstract:

Housing charity Peabody Trust is building the UK's first-ever multistorey prefabricated housing development in Hackney, London. The five-storey apartment block is manufactured and fitted out by Portakabin's sister company Yorkon at its York, England, factory and the modules are transported to London to be installed in their final positions on concrete bases. The erection of the first 35 modules took just five days.
