Reviewing the past to predict the future

Article Abstract:

The roofing, siding and insulation industries have undergone a number of changes in the past millennium. The market saw the introduction of revolutionary products that include laminated shingles, single plies, non- irritating fiber glass insulation and fiber glass felts. The period also saw the importance placed by the industries on safety with the strong impact of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Roofing contractor takes training to a higher level

Article Abstract:

Burns and Scalo Roofing Company Inc, a Pittsburgh, PA-based roofing contractor, offers a year-round training program to help employees be successful as well as address the company's need for more skilled workers. The training program, which features 26 different courses, is designed for different skill levels of employees. The effort has helped the company earn the SPRI's annual Contractor Achievement Award.

Weather, worker shortages dampen strong economy

Article Abstract:

The roofing business in the US generally projects good outcome in 1998, although the results are not expected to better the records in 1996 and 1997. Contractors were compelled to adjust to such challenges as weather and worker shortages as well as lower prices in some areas. However, the booming economy, low-interest rates and big bonuses of customers are certain to fuel the success of the construction industry.
