UPS to restrict liquor shipments to MI

Article Abstract:

United Parcel Service is about to initiate a campaign which would inform its customers about the legal issues concerning interstate liquor sales and the sale of alcohol to minors. The campaign is part of an agreement with Michigan state Attorney General Jennifer M Granholm after it was charged with violations of the Michigan Liquor Control Code prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors. Under the agreement UPS pledged to inform its customers that it would no longer ship alcohol from an unlicensed, out-of-state firm and that it would sell alcohol only to persons 21 or above.

Shipping: healthy holidays, late deliveries not their fault

Article Abstract:

The top three parcel delivery services in the US reported robust holiday shipping figures for the 1999 Christmas season and said that most of the growth was due to online shopping. United Parcel Service of America Inc, Federal Express Corp and the US Postal Service expressed confidence in their respective abilities to cope with the holiday season traffic. The shippers gave notice that any problem related to the late delivery of goods is most probably due to problems with the retailers.
