SpeciaLists debuts co-op to drive Web traffic

Article Abstract:

The SpeciaLists Ltd of Weehawken, NJ, is preparing for the 1st qtr 2000 launching of the Young Families Web Dictionary. The four-page booklet, a cooperative direct mail vehicle containing advertisements for Internet businesses, will be the initial release of six vertically oriented booklets that the list management firm is offering as part of its marketing effort for e-Alternatives. The SpeciaLists will begin distributing the booklet through such mail programs as the Madison Young Families Co-Op and the Sesame Street Young Families Co-Op.

Banta to shutter 3 plants, lay off 650

Article Abstract:

Banta Corp. of Menasha, WI, announced a restructuring program that would result in the closure of three facilities and about 650 job cuts. The digital pre-press plant in Charlotte, NC, a printing plant in Kent, WA, and a mailing and fulfillment center in Berkeley, IL, all will be closed. The closure and layoffs will result in a charge of $50 million to $55 million against second quarter 1999 results. Company chairman Donald D. Belcher expects the restructuring to bear fruit beginning the second half of 1999.

Experian creates online access to prospecting databases

Article Abstract:

Orange, CA-based Experian introduced List Online to help customers access its massive InSource database of 110 million households and its commercial database of 13 million businesses. With List Online, prospecting lists can be chosen, bought and downloaded from the databases via Experian's Web site. The service can be accessed through Experian's Web site, www.experian.com.
