SuperMarkets Online tries to fight fraud with secure retail coupons

Article Abstract:

Greenwich, CT-based SuperMarkets Online Inc is directing consumers from its World Wide Web site to participating brick-and-mortar supermarket retailers, where they can receive secure coupons called Web Bucks. Consumers visiting SuperMarkets Online's www.valupage.com site can print a page of products savings posted by more than 12,000 participating supermarket retailers, then take this printed sheet to participating local supermarkets. They receive a Web Buck after buying the items, that can be used as cash to buy any product on their next visit to the same supermarket. The system is said to minimize the risk of online coupon fraud.
