The invisible manager

Article Abstract:

A marketing manager of company within a community can be considered 'invisible' when the community is unaware of the manager's and the company's marketing activities. Before formulating a marketing plan, managers should believe in their companies' product and be willing to pursue a vigorous marketing program. A marketing plan should be written and the intended target market should be specified. Marketing managers can increase their visibility by joining civic groups such as the Lions Club, Rotary Club and Soroptimists and participate in the sponsorships of community-oriented activities.

Here's what we're calling things now

Article Abstract:

A list of terminologies for the prefabricated homes industry is presented. The list shows which terms owners and property managers favor in describing the industry's different elements. The list is based on the results of two surveys conducted by PNM Publishing. Among the clear choices were 'manufactured home' to describe the structures and 'homesite' for the structures' site. The term 'manufactured home landlease community,' while not appearing in the survey, was derived from the responses and appears to be the best name for the community of manufactured homes.

Managing communities in recessionary times

Article Abstract:

Prefabricated home community owners should devise strategies to reduce expenses incurred in the maintenance of manufactured houses in order to maintain their financial viability. In a survey conducted in 1991, upkeep expenses were estimated at 40.1% which is higher than the 40% model proposed by the survey. Several ways to effectively manage and minimize operating expenses in service revenues, rent and labor and parts in prefabricated home communities are discussed.
