First wind

Article Abstract:

Work undertaken in 1992 at the Glasgow School of Art, which has been refurbished recently, revealed the original heating and ventilation system designed by famous local architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh in the 1890s. This used a network of horizontal and vertical ducts to force fresh, filtered air around the building, and is one of the earliest examples of modern air conditioning techniques. George Cairns, who has undertaken the research into the building's heating and ventilation system, believes that it could be made operational again as part of a modern system.
