Article Abstract:

Party walls are dealt with under Part IV of the London Building Acts (Amendment) Act 1939. The Act protects the rights of the building owner and adjoining owners. A specialist party wall surveyor is needed for all owners to collate the information available to obtain a party wall award. The award include details of the work, method and restrictions. The building owner is liable for any damage caused to the adjoining owner's property and there are usually time restrictions on when work may be carried out.

Article Abstract:

UK project control consultancy Johnson Jackson Jeff commenced a study in 1989 on the lead times of 24 major building products, which has been completed in Oct 1992. The study was based on a hypothetical six-story, new-built office block. The 24 products evaluated include, CFA piling, concrete blocks, pre-cast concrete frame, bricks, generators, passenger lifts, terrazzo floor tiles and internal doors.
