Pub prices

Article Abstract:

The price of drink in UK public houses varies widely across the country, with the North and Scotland generally being cheaper than Greater London and the South East. The average price of a pint of bitter in London is 1.41 pounds sterling, against 1.12 pounds sterling in the North and North West. Spirit prices also vary on a similar regional basis, but soft drink prices tend not to have large regional differences. Of the four pub categories: tenanted, managed, free houses and leased, free houses tend to be cheaper. A table giving average pub prices in selected areas of England, Scotland and Wales is presented.

What's happening to house prices

Article Abstract:

Property prices in the UK have declined by an average of 11% over the last five years, and there have been more than 300,000 repossessions during that time. It is estimated that up to 1.7 million people are now trapped by negative equity, with the size of their mortgage being greater than the value of their home. There have been wide variations in developments in property values, even within individual regions. Older properties have tended to keep their value, while the average price of new property has not been affected to a marked extent by the overall fall in house prices.

Pick the right theme park: huge queues, screaming kids, wallet-emptying prices - a trip to a theme park can be a nightmare

Article Abstract:

Nine theme parks were assessed for their range and standard of facilities provided. They included Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventures, Drayton Manor Park and Farm, Legoland, Pleasureland and Thorpe Park. Generally the theme parks that included ride costs in the entry price were better value, although a day out averaged 74 pounds sterling for two adults and two children.
