Europe

Article Abstract:

The four main economies in Europe, France, Germany, the UK and Italy, have seen a recovery in output which looks set to continue. Inflation is low but the UK and Italy have seen drops in the exchange rates for their currencies which could lead to inflationary pressure, There is thus a need for vigilance over interest rates. This means that monetary policy is likely to be tight. Curency changes affect the abilities of European Union economies to achieve monetary union. Unemployment is high and there is disagreement as to what can be done to remedy this.

Credit and banking structure: Asian and African-American experience in Los Angeles

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to test whether the paucity of bank branches in Afro-American communities and the lack of a robust Afro-American banking sector are factors impeding the economic development of these communities. The role supported by ethnobanks in ethnic communities' economic activities was examined. Results indicated that the strength of the ethnic banking sector influences credit flows in ethnic communities.
