Colorado Community Colleges: full partners in economic development

Article Abstract:

A bill which reorganized the relationship between the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education in Colorado resulted in the formation of the Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System. The educational system is aimed at providing the needed workforce for Colorado industries. Apart from its training objectives, the organization is tasked to administer the state's Dislocated Workers program, a program aimed at expanding the skills of displaced workers and allow them to seek employment in other industries.

Benchmarking public opinions toward regional economic development issues

Article Abstract:

The establishment of public opinion-based benchmarks is critical in the formulation of economic development strategies. A survey study has been conducted to measure public perception on several regional economic development issues such as current economic development activities, fund allocation, the use of incentives to attract domestic and foreign businesses and preference regarding foreign and domestic employers. The results provided a number of critical benchmarks to measure the community's support for economic development programs.
