And the Beat goes on...

Article Abstract:

Poet and scholar Eric Mottram came to be seen as one of the most original European scholars of American studies. He is particularly highly regarded for his support for the Beat writers of the 1950s and for emphasizing the need to give these writers serious critical attention. He played a key role in introducing US poets to readers in the UK, and was a driving force behind 'the British poetry revival' which began in small publishing presses in the 1960s. A collection of his work is to open in Jan 1998 at King's College, London, England, where he taught from 1961.
