Bridge construction ahead

Article Abstract:

The design teams of Chemeketa Community College and high schools in Oregon's Mid-Williamette region have discussed the possibilities of linking the high school tech prep curriculum to the college programs. The reform would allow the high school program to prepare students for the college entrance requirements in fields such as industrial and engineering systems, business and management and natural resource systems. The outcome of the reform should include ending instructor isolation, contextual learning for all students, work-based learning activities and every course including SCANS skills.

Learning from the Greeks

Article Abstract:

The academic community has been known to be lukewarm, if not downright averse, to Greek philosophy and wisdom. This is despite the fact that there is so much to learn from the Greeks, including Homer, Sophocles, Euripides, Aristophanes and Socrates.
