A diverse group of educationalists has formed the Association for Commonwealth Studies which is aimed at understanding the activities of the Commonwealth of Nations at all levels. The association, whose members include representatives of the Commonwealth Institute and the Association of Commonwealth Universities, will enable academic networking through meetings, publications, workshops and electronic communication.

The famine in Africa may have different causes, many of the countries presently suffering hunger were prosperous in the years immediately after independence.
