Disabled rights to work set universities thinking

Article Abstract:

New obligations for higher education establishments as employers come into force in November 1996 under the UK Disability Discrimination Act. There will be no change in obligations concerning students due to the costs involved. Higher education establishments in the US would have to pay an average of $4 million to comply with the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act, according to research. The UK National Bureau for Students with Disabilities, Skill, recommends making alterations along with planned refurbishments or maintenance to reduce costs.
