Giant eyes on the final frontier

Article Abstract:

Britain's active involvement in projects such as the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and the two ground-based 'Gemini' giant telescopes provides an important boost to the country's scientific prestige. Britain's involvement in funding huge telescopes also draws some of the country's cleverest young people into science and technology. Virtually all research astronomers have access to the Hubble archive, a repository of knowledge of the universe being built up over the lifetime of the HST project.

The missing link in multimedia

Article Abstract:

The UK convergent media industry requires a new style of management to lead the creative teams, in order to produce the highest quality of work. The convergent media industry includes representatives from the media, communication and computing technologies. A study found that some styles of purely profit based management may prevent creative workers producing their best work.
