Hitler's spectre haunts science

Article Abstract:

Philosopher and Director of the Centre for Medical Ethics Jonathan Glover maintains the modern day research on genetics is focused on the helping the infertile and the sick. It bears no resemblance to Nazi eugenics which strove to ensure racial purity by murdering those who did not fit the physical ideal. Glover supports equality for the disabled along with parental rights to abort a potentially disabled child. He suggests any decisions to abort a child should be left to the parents as state involvement would be abhorrent.

Back our effort to defeat spectre haunting Africa

Article Abstract:

The G8 should join students in Africa in their fight against the spread of Aids, which is robbing the region of vital, educated, talent. In particular, members of the G8 need to make sure that the money they promise to combat the spread of Aids in Africa is not tied purely to abstinence-only programs, as is the case with one-third of the US$15 billion promised by the United States, and more usefully provides people with access to the full range of information about Aids, HIV prevention and condoms.
