Hustings brings out anger over pay dispute

Article Abstract:

Two contenders for the post of general secretary of the University and College Union (UCU) expressed in an election hustings meeting their opinions on the handling of the 2006 pay dispute. Roger Kline vented his anger at the Association of University Teachers (AUT) and its leader Sally Hunt for not consulting with his lecturers' union Natfhe ahead of the negotiations, while Hunt asserted that she had enabled the best deal possible through negotiation.

Article Abstract:

A group of Lancaster University lecturers created subtext, a fortnightly e-newsletter, as an alternative source of information on university governance and politics and to encourage a culture of speaking out and questioning. The e-newsletter idea came about following a flurry of outraged e-mails after the trials of the George Fox Six.

Pornography remains perhaps one of the last untouched taboos of British academic study and to get around touching porn it is hidden in a veil of theory. In the US courses on porn have proliferated so much that right-wingers are concerned about the explosion of courses including porn in their curricula.
