'Law is not on our side, but honour is. We won't give in'

Article Abstract:

Just over ten years ago the rare 16th-century book, De Humani Corporis Fabrica by Flemish anatomist Andreas Vesalius, was stolen from the Christ Church College, Oxford, library. The book, one of 74 stolen over a 3-year period, was discovered at Nippon Dental University in Japan but the university refuses to return it and under Japanese law is not obliged to.

Article Abstract:

A Briton's experience of teaching in Japan makes him wonder why British universities do not provide support for the foreign students who find the U.K.'s education system and culture puzzling as well as for the teachers who often know very little about the backgrounds of the students they teach.

Vague policies derail effort to rein in student cheats

Article Abstract:

Ambiguous anti-plagiarism policies and procedures are hampering the efforts of most universities to combat cheating among students. Concerns about inconsistency between universities in the handling of plagiarism cases are leading to proposed updated and rewritten policies.
