Your guide to shelf-fulfilment

Article Abstract:

Publishers believe the best books written by academics are those which encompass both 'academic' and 'business' aspects to provide the highest sales potential, although they are also risky as they could conversely be perceived as failing in both areas. Some academics find it difficult to find a publisher who is willing to target the desired audience, with many academics seeking to reach a large number of readers. The highest sales in trade-academic publications are reached in the fields of politics, literature, culture and history. New works by authors Paul Ormerod, Richard Dawkins, Griselda Pollock and David Cannadine are summarised.
