...believe universities could help transform the police service

Article Abstract:

Issues relating to the role that universities play in the development of police services and policing policy are examined. It is argued that the fact that very little police policy has come about as the result of social science research represents a serious problem for the credibility of police policy and that university police schools should be developed that would train officers how to better do their jobs.
