Creative waves fit electronic displays to new uses

Article Abstract:

Electronic displays are finding new uses in the formation and spread of digital networks. Developers have adopted processes for increasingly fine levels of resolution to enable true-to-life image reproduction. They have also adopted advanced techniques for cutting power consumption. The innovations in electronic displays help to form a new market for display products and systems. Manufacturers believe that improvements in materials could lead to sudden, sharp expansion in the electronic display market.

Market for displays to grow at 8.7% annually

Article Abstract:

IDC Japan expects the global market for displays to increase at an annual rate of 8.7% and reaching a value of 9.58 trillion yen by 2005. The company adds that flat panel displays, such as LCD and plasma, would grow by 21.5% annually with a market value of four trillion yen by 2003. Demand for flat panel displays would come from portable information devices and cell phones. LC panels would also account for 68% of the flat panel display market by 2005.

Large-screen displays focus on big picture at EDEX'99

Article Abstract:

The highlight of the Electronic Display Exhibition '99 in Yokohama, Japan, was on large-screen displays. Displays ranged in size from 33-inch models to 60-inch units. Vendors that came with their wares included Fujitsu Ltd, Hitach Ltd, Sharp Corp, Panasonic, Chuomusen Co Ltd, Hitachi Ltd, Kyocera Corp, Toshiba Corp, Seiko Epson Corp, Samsung Display Devices, Futaba Corp and Noritake Co Ltd.
