Matsushita Communication Industrial steers toward 60 billion yen in sales

The Automotive Consumer Electronics Division of Matsushita Communication Industrial Company Ltd expects to post sales of 60 billion yen for fiscal year 2000. The figure would include 40 billion yen in sales in Japan and exports from Japan, and 20 billion yen in sales from production outside Japan. The division has give such optimistic forecast because of the strong global sales of its car audio-video equipment, specifically the DVD players.

The company's forecast is based on the strong sales of its El Kameleon series of A/V products, CD changers and car theater systems in the European, US, Asian, and Middle and Near Eastern markets. This success stems from gains in the number of full-time sales personnel in these regions.
