VC-DS1 D-VHS digital VCR by Sharp

Article Abstract:

Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer Sharp Corp has introduced the VC-DS1 D-VHS digital video cassette recorder (VCR). The equipment was designed by the company to convert and record analog images such as VHS into digital output. In addition, it can record images fed by communications satellite, broadcast satellite and Digital Videocasette. Furthermore, Sharp's digital VCR is equipped with an i.Link terminal and a Digital Video decoder that allows it to record DVC images in MPEG-2 format.

Dual-wave system speeds rewinds in Sanyo's VCR

Article Abstract:

Sanyo Electric Company Ltd has unveiled a new VCR model that is capable of rewinding a 120-minute tape in about 43 seconds. The 500 yen device, which operates at 500 times the normal rewinding speed, features a capstan motor that is separated into a half-wave and a full-wave drive system. The system improves the tape speed by permitting it to start with a lighter load. Sanyo engineers have also improved the accuracy of the VCRs winding- position recognition system.

VR-H901G videocassette recorder

Article Abstract:

Funai Electric Company Ltd introduces the VR-H901G videocassette recorder. The debuting product features 400x high-speed tape transfer capabilities, thus it can completely fast-forwad or rewind a 120-minute videocassette in one minute. The VR-H901G also has a built-in G-code reservation function and full-band receiving. Furthermore, it has 19 micro heads for high picture quality even in triple-speed mode.
