Thin film magnetism

Article Abstract:

Considerable research is underway on thin film. There are two major ways to grow thin film: sputtering, where the films can be grown rapidly and uniformly on large-area wafers, used primarily in production environments, and evaporation, used primarily in research laboratories. There are also hybrid methods, such as laser-assisted variants, and several new techniques. Recording or information storage technologies are important types of applications. The need for higher information storage densities is bringing about the development of new media.
