Automated SPC reduces inspection costs

Article Abstract:

Woburn, MA-based precision assemblies and components manufacturer Tecomet has expanded the use of automating control processes to help its customers reduce incoming inspection costs. The company started using CimWorks GageTalker's VisualSPC, an automated statistical-process control software, to help it become more efficient in the production of its product. However, the company discovered that it can be a great value-added customer service as it can provide proof of the quality of its process controls to potential customers.

Ergonomic software enhances workplace safety

Article Abstract:

Tecnomatix Technologies of Novi, MI, has developed a new ergonomic software called ROBCAD/Man that will be used by General Motors' Small Car Group of Warren, MI. The software could create virtual manufacturing environment that simulates actual manufacturing operations onscreen. The software aids engineers to develop the safest work environment and processes that could reduce the incidence of injuries caused by repetitive tasks. ROBCAD/Man could create various human models with different physical traits, age and gender.
