Article Abstract:

Some types of thermoplastic diffuser can greatly accelerate fire growth and electrical contractors should be aware of this when installing light fittings. The two types of thermoplastics used on diffusers are TP(a) rigid and flexible and TY(b) and choice depends on limitations of space, area and layout. Diffusers should be in line with health, safety and fire standards and codes and contractors must establish whether a specification requires only a certain type of diffuser.
