The building owners are demanding integrated holistic solutions that make the buildings more efficient; such integrated solutions requires joining different building services controls and connecting them with the client's information systems. Electrical contractors need to change their contractual procedures to fulfill the needs of the emerging demands and be competitive.

The transformerless uninterruptible power supply (UPS) has seen many developments and now models that can be rack mounted are available in different power outputs. The flexibility offered by the new developments in the UPS technology to the electrical contractors is discussed.
