Article Abstract:

In Europe the usage of chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) as refrigerants are phased out for their greenhouse gas emissions and hydro chlorofluorocarbons (HFC) have replaced them. Now even HFCs are phased out in countries like Denmark and other European countries are expected to follow suit. Hydrocarbons like ethane, propane and isobutane are promoted as alternative refrigerants and ironically these are the refrigerants used in the industry in 1900s and were replaced by CFC.
