Overlapping prototyping streamlines production: 3D CAD allied to modems cut out much of the usual legwork during the design of a new electronic communications module

Article Abstract:

A method of prototyping complex moulded cases simultaneously with the manufacture of the mould tools has been developed, using modem linked CAD terminals. The system allows for rapid design of new products which gives them a longer shelf life before it is superceded by new technology.

Storyboards give whirl to better design

Article Abstract:

Storyboards can play a very effective role in design, particularly in clarifying the interaction between humans and equipment. Detailed preparatory work ensures that designers gain an insight into exactly what equipment must do and how it will be used.
