Presidential candidates tackle today's quality issues

Article Abstract:

The campaigns of President Bill Clinton and Senator Bob Dole for the November 5, 1996 presidential elections have been marked by debates on quality issues in health care, business, environment, education, and government. Both Clinton and Dole are in favour of improving the quality of health services but their approaches are different. While Clinton believes in putting more efforts on the health insurance front through legislation, Dole favours open enrollment. Clinton and Dole have similar views on environment protection but differ on education standards and quality control in governance.

Quality as a way of life

Article Abstract:

Quality control procedures need not be applied solely to business enterprises but can also be instilled in any venture that consists of systems and working toward a specific goal. A few individuals have succeeded in implementing total quality management in non-profit charitable institutions while some have managed to apply reengineering principles to churches as well as youth scouting groups. It is believed that such broad applications of management principles can lead to a better, more civilized society.
