Quality 1 on 1: a new game plan, the theme of the Quality Forum XII held in San Francisco on Oct. 3, 1996, emphasizes the need to foster strong bonds with customers and employees to enhance the quality of products and services. Mobil offers full service at regular prices

Article Abstract:

Mobil's attempt to offer full service to its consumers at gas filling stations through the Friendly Serve marketing program has been appreciated for boosted gas sales throughout the US. Services offered under this program, at no extra cost to the consumer include washing car windows, checking oil, and putting air in tires. The attendants are given good training and discouraged from accepting tips as well as pushing other items dealt by the gas stations. However, the hiring of extra attendants has raised questions about the viability of the program.
