TQM requires the harnessing of fear

Article Abstract:

Fear, if properly harnessed, can be a positive factor in the motivation of people. Fears associated with total quality management (TQM) call for proper control in order to be an effective tool for employee motivation. Fear of change can be overcome by continuous improvement (CI) rather than TQM. Proper management integration is necessary for the incorporation of CI into a company's culture. Empowering employees in taking decisions will boost the morale of employees and increase their productivity.

However, there are some problems associated with replacing a PLC with a PC, especially deterministic operation.
