Internationalizing R and D improves a firm's technical learning

Article Abstract:

Expenditure on the internationalisation of research and development (R and D) has increased despite evidence that it can lead to inefficient communication systems, less efficient home-based technological networks, proprietary information risks and poor management coordination. The main advantage of decentralisation of R and D is rapid access to more relevant information. Research based on 14 non-specific R and D companies showed that internationalisation led to access to markets, technologies and resources.

Flowing past organizational walls

Article Abstract:

An effective research organisation needs in-house collaboration at all levels and cross-functional teamwork.
