Standards battles heating up worldwide

Article Abstract:

JIS Z9901, based on ISO 9000, is Japanese a software specification which could be implemented in Oct 1995. The quality standard could act as a trade barrier to all those involved in manufacture of any type of software. Manufacturers with business in Europe, the US and Japan could be seriously affected. Implementation of JIS Z9901 could lead to delays in production and distribution of software products. Electronics and software manufacturers are fighting against the implementation of this standard.

High-speed modem standards development gets involved with commercial interests

Article Abstract:

Lucent's claim that the standards would be ratified in Sept 1998 is also doubtful.
