Computers + farmers = better cadastres

Article Abstract:

Microcomputers can now be effectively used to produce cadastres, an accurate map of landholdings which was previously done by surveyors. The facility of making cadastres can result in the availability of the benefits of land consolidation and redistribution toall farmers in any part of the world. Cadastres also help public administratorsfix titles and zones, create taxation systems, provide credit and promote foreign investment. In addition, the local community can even participate in the planning.

African project links farmers with researchers

Article Abstract:

Sixteen countries from West and Central Africa are currently involved in the On-Farm Adaptive Researchproject that aims to bridge the gap between farmers and researchers. The project attracts farmer participation in creating improved crop production technologies by undertaking field-testing on actual farms. If farmers like the new techniques they would use them. If not, they would inform the researchers about the reasons.
