Contagious seed dispersal beneath heteropspecific fruiting trees and its consequences

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to demonstrate that frugivores disperse higher densities of Cornus florida seeds under fruiting (female) Ilex opaca trees than under non-fruiting (male) Ilex trees in temperate hardwood forest settings is South Carolina, USA. This demonstration is conducted in order to determine if density of Cornus and/or Ilex seeds influences survivorship of dispersed Cornus florida.

Variability in population and community biomass in a grassland community affected by environmental productivity and diversity

Article Abstract:

Temporal variability of the biomass of individual populations and total community biomass were studies in a species rich meadow. It is argued that the effect of environmental productivity on variability is more pronounced than the effect of diversity.

Bottom-up control and co-occurrence in complex communities: honeydew and nectar determine a rainforest ant mosaic

Article Abstract:

The role of homopteran honeydew and plant nectar in structuring and communities in an Australian tropical rainforest canopy and understorey is described. The economic importance and the ecological functions of the ant communities are focused.
