Distinguishing nitrification and denitrification sources of N(2)O in a Mexican wheat system using (15)N

Article Abstract:

Research on a Mexican wheat field indicates that nitrous oxide denitrification losses were higher than nitrification following irrigation, but as soils drained, nitrification became more important. Both processes were found to contribute equally to total losses of nitrous oxide during the irrigation/fertilization cycle.

Forest cover-rainfall relationships in a biodiversity hotspot: The Atlantic forest of Brazil

Article Abstract:

The general relationship between land-use change and climate that can have important conservation implications is discussed. Significant positive relationships between tree cover and the number of rain days consistently emerge.
