Effects of repeated damage and fertilization on palatability of Vaccinium myrtillus to grey sided voles, Clethrionomys rufocanus

Article Abstract:

The responses of the dominant understorey plant species, Vaccinium myrtillus, to nitrogen applications and repeated damage by clipping are investigated. The food preferences of grey-sided voles (Clethrionomys rufocanus) are affected by the treatment-induced changes in Vaccinium myrtillus.

Beyond the compensatory continuum: Environmental resource levels and plant tolerance of herbivory

Article Abstract:

A model called limiting resource model (LRM) is presented to address the phenomenon of environmental variation in tolerance of herbivory. The goal was to offer an intuitive model with the flexibility to be applied to as diverse an array of scenarios as possible.

Influence of herbivory and abiotic factors on the distribution of tall forbs along a productivity gradient: a transplantation experiment

Article Abstract:

Research on forbs, or range plants, in arctic-alpine regions indicates that the impact of herbivores is the primary factor in decreased plant abundance. No significant influence on plant abundance was found for abiotic factors such as altitude.
