Global invasive potential of 10 parasitic witchweeds and related Orobanchaceae

Article Abstract:

Tools from ecological niche modeling are used in combination with occurrence records from herbarium specimens to evaluate the global invasive potential of each of 10 species in the assemblage, representing several of the worst global invaders. It is found that the invasive potential of these species is considerable with all tropical and subtropical countries, and most temperature countries, vulnerable to invasions by one or more of them.

Why a Global International Waters Assessment (GIWA)?

Article Abstract:

Global International Waters Assessment (GIWA) is unique in its global and holistic policy-oriented approach applying a common methodology to solve the major problems throughout the global hydrosphere. GIWA studies the physical, chemical and biological properties of the waterbodies and living resources in relation to the human activities, combining ecological and socioeconomic considerations.
