Ground rules for marketing compost

Article Abstract:

Education plays an integral role in developing a successful compost marketing program. Comprehensive product information and purchasing guidelines will enable consumers to make buying decisions that could ultimately affect sales. In addition, social networking with green industry associations will provide educational opportunities for the promotion of the products, thus widening the potential markets. Analysis of sales conditions, market needs andconsumer preferences will greatly help in establishing compost as a truly marketable product.

Wood grinder finds niche in contract work

Article Abstract:

Grind-All LLC was set up in Midlothian, Virginia, by Dennis W, Smith, a land clearer, and the builder, Bill Stinson, in 1998, to process woody debris using a mulching operation. The company's spare capacity has been offered to local municipalities, and a contract was signed with Chesterfield County in 1998. Marketing has focused on high-end uses, and there are a number of specialty markets to be targeted in fall 1999 and spring 2000. These markets include turf topdressing and erosion control.
