Parliamentary seminar reviews summer floods

Article Abstract:

The issues involved in summer flooding in the United Kingdom, such as warnings for local population and for energy response, are the main points of the All-Party Parliamentary Fire and Rescue Group seminar held on October 22, 2007. The major problems that need to be adressed in flood response include loss of electricity and loss of drinking water. Recommendations for responding to floods are presented.

Joint fire/police PFI scheme in Dorset

Article Abstract:

The Dorset Emergency Services Partnership Initiative (DESPI) is a project that aims to build new fire and police facilities at Poole and Dorchester. The government's share in this scheme is 58.4 million pounds sterling of the 80 million pounds sterling total cost of the 25-year project.
