Recycling association launches compost marketing project

Article Abstract:

The Nebraska State Recycling Association (NSRA) has launched a compost marketing project to determine the need for additional product and market development investments. James Steffen and Associates will manage the project, while Woods End Research Laboratory of Mount Vernon will design and conduct testing procedure and analysis. The project will use paunch manure, leaves from yard trimmings and pen wastes to produce a small amount of compost in cooperation with the area farmers. NSRA will conduct market tests in agriculture and horticulture to determine the demand for the product.

Composting is right for landscape firm

Article Abstract:

Environmental Earthscapes, Inc. uses an effective alternative for composting green waste to produce soil amendment. The firm utilizes a standard windrow method with reclaimed water for hydration, and loaders to turn material four to five times. The waste is processed at temperatures ranging between 140 to 155 degree for 16 weeks. The final product is screened top quality soil amendment. The company produces and markets 800 cu yards a month of the compost to utilities, cities, landscapers and tree service companies, resorts and golf courses.

All the garbage that fits in print

Article Abstract:

An article on recycling of garbage in The New York Times states that recycling involves spending of a large amount of money and and has no positive impact on the environment. It has also criticized the landfill programs. In another report, contrarily, the paper suggests that recycling should be encouraged. Such irresponsible reporting on key issues by a well-read newspaper may have undesirable effects on the public.
